   David P. Scoblionko, M.D.

The founding partner of Valley Cardiology Associates returned to his native Lehigh Valley in 1985. He came to Bethlehem from Dartmouth Medical School where he served as Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology). He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University Medical School, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Dartmouth and his Cardiology training at the University of Washington. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He holds Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology, the American Society for Echocardiography and the American Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Scoblionko resides in Bethlehem.

 

   Venu Thirumurti, M.D.

Dr. Thirumurti joined VCA in July 2000.  He is particularly skilled in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology and offers us cutting edge expertise.  After distinguishing himself during his medical school years in India, he came to the United States to complete his Internal Medicine training at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.  He spent three years as a researcher at the prestigious National Institute of Health before completing his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Thirumurti resides with his wife and 2 daughters in Bethlehem.

 

 

   Mohamed I. Salem, M.D.

Dr. Salem joined our practice in August of 2003.  After completing his undergraduate and medical education in his native Egypt, he completed his medical residency.  Thereafter, he completed cardiology fellowship and interventional fellowship at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish program, one of the largest and most renowned interventional cardiology programs in the country.  He has extensive experience in all aspects of interventional cardiology, including advanced coronary intervention techniques as well as established skills and certification in peripheral vascular angioplasty.  Dr. Salem is an outstanding addition to our group with advanced skills in interventional cardiology.  He lives in Bethlehem with his wife and two sons.

 


Nurse Practitioners
 

Carolyn A. Philippi, MSN, CRNP

Carolyn joined Valley Cardiology Associates, Inc. in 1998.  She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1978, received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cedar Crest College in 1986, a Masters of Science in Nursing from Allentown College of St. Francis deSales in 1993, and her Nurse Practitioner Certification from Widener University in 1996.  She belongs to the Sigma Theta Tau chapter of the International Honor Society of Nursing and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Joyce A. Dobish, MSN, CRNP

Joyce joined Valley Cardiology Associates, Inc. in August 2000.  She received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Northampton Area Community College in 1987 and a Bachelors Degree from the MCP/Hahnemann University with Honors in 1996.  In August 2000, she received a combined Master of Science Degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner from DeSales University.  Her previous nursing background includes Critical Care Nursing, Inpatient Nursing Case Management and Outpatient Case Management of patients with chronic illness.  She is a member of the Lehigh Valley Nurse Practitioner Association.  Joyce resides with her family in Catasauqua. 

Michele Mair, MSN,CRNP

Michele joined Valley Cardiology Associates in November 2002. She graduated from the Hospital, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Benton, Texas in 1981, a Master's in Cardiovascular Nursing and Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and a post Master's Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program from University of Pennsylvania in 2002. She has extensive clinical nursing experience in all aspects of medical, surgical, and diagnostic cardiac care.  She previously served on the Nursing faculties of St. Louis University and Southern Illinois University. She is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Regional Faculty of the American Heart Association. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Michele resides with her family in Allentown.
